What Any Novice Should Know About Car Interior Accessories

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

When you buy a car for the first time, you will be thrilled with the experience. It is a wonderful feeling when you drive away from the showroom in your new car. This is one moment in your life that you are likely to remember forever. In the happiness of the moment, you will be likely to miss out on checking whether your vehicle has come with all the mandatory car interior accessories.

Some Useful Car Interior Accessories

Very few first-timers will really even look for the mandatory car interior accessories before taking possession of the vehicle. The following car interior accessories are a must in a new car. In case, by any chance, your showroom does not provide these, check out with the manufacturer - and if the answer still is a negative, then buy it yourself. Some of the handy car interior accessories are as follows:

1. Floor mats - surprisingly enough, there are a good deal of cars which roll out of showrooms without floor mats. This is one car interior accessory that absolutely has to be there. Hence, in case your showroom really does not have floor mats inclusive in the deal, make sure this is the first priority on your accessory list.

2. Cup holders - they may seem standard on most cars, but in reality you may have to add a few depending on the number of sippy-cup toting kids you have in your minivan. You can find separate cup holders in department stores like Target as well as auto stores like Auto Zone. They come in a myriad of colors to suit any car interior and are well worth their money. This is especially true if you do not have leather seats. Spilled juice, coffee or worse still, soda can leave stains on the upholstery which can be an eye sore in the short run and get you less money for your vehicle in the long term.

3. Hands-free Cell Phone Holder - if you are on the road a lot and do not have the new blue-tooth enabled technology, a hands-free device can save your life and is required by law in some cities too. Some people even have a sticky-note dispenser or other kind of note pad mounted on the dash to quickly jot down a phone or reference number - while parked of course.

Other miscellaneous handy accessories can be a back seat organizer, a trunk organizer, a CD pocket for your visor, air fresheners and the list goes on. Evaluate what car interior accessory is important for you and make it something that adds value to your vehicle and your quality of life.

It Is Here

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

And what will they find when they excavate into our experiences, our memories, the result of our inspiration, manifesting itself in our art and literature, our culture and the tone in which we approach everything. Beneath the bedrock of our personalities, as anarchists and revolutionaries — writers and painters — creatures and beings — when they dig beneath the philosophy imbedded in our books and published in our independent presses, and they want to know. When they do this, they will find every reason that we are who we are, that we oppose the things we do, that we stand in defense of those we do. Reason is a powerful thing, and every authority will oppose it — they will offer as many obstacles to it as much as they love their power. While their ability to imprison, torture, and kill is constantly used as a means to their end, they will forever be envious that the pen can incite a thousand swords, that humane philosophy can conquer the vicious beast of cruelty.

The reasons, as many as there, as simple as they foundation they are implanted upon, are there. For centuries they have struggled under the shadow of authority. Secretly, a few have found them, and desired to bring them to the light. Anarchy is a wheat-pasted poster on an abandoned building, calling to arms every worker with the slogan, “What time is it? Time to organize!” It’s in the sweat of every protestor who suffered the malignities of police brutality it’s in the blood of every worker who was dismissed from his job because of work with independent unions it’s in the tears of every individual, feeling more and more helpless and this world seemingly grows more arrogant and more inhumane. Anarchy is in the dreams of those who have wished to escape the slavery of the clock. It is imbedded in every just cause, the sole principle of every liberation movement. It is the belief that those who live in a society ought to be the ones who guide it, that those who work in the factories ought to be the ones who own and run them.

What will they call it, when the seething emotions of despair and hopelessness rise to the top, and individuals start doing what they want, refusing and resisting at every cost? What will it be called, when workers start to share a fair share of income, when whatever laws that are passed are passed by the public? What will this be called? When every tyrant has been deprived of every resource, when the angel of mercy is left holding a broken chain, when the exploiters of society must move on because their ventures have become too troublesome, where no children must suffer from debilitating disease because they are afflicted with malnutrition… When community means something more than a shopping center, and education means something more than a high school, and government means something no more… When the star we have all wished upon finally flickers back, when the sighs whispering for a fair life finally go in unison, when we finally see something more than a reflection when looking into the pond of the future, when life is not just a travelling through the forest at night alone, when the oppressive regimes have been dismantled with the tool of the people… When true Democracy reigns, on principle and not on outcome, what will they call it? Anarchy.

I am an Anarchist, because I believe that no man has any intrinsic right over any other man. I am an Anarchist, because I believe that every man should be given the right to govern themselves, and that if a man is incapable of governing themselves, that they must be equally incapable of choosing another person to govern them, as they would be without ability to know what would be required or needed. I am an Anarchist, because giving authority to one person has always been at the sacrifice of everyone else. I am an Anarchist, and I can count as many reasons as I can count those who are capable of suffering. For every conscious being, there is another black mark against the regime of tyrants. For every individual struggling for air under the net of consumer society, there is another reason why my heart secretly cries — another inspiration for every word I have given to literature on revolution. The reasons why I am an Anarchist are spread throughout the world, in every oppressed society, in every nation where authority lies within a small amount of people and not with all people.

One day, there will be more of us than them. One day, the workers who have been treated with less regard than the machinery they operate, will revolt. One day, the children of the children of the children of the children, who have been born to do the same as their ancestors: work in gruelling conditions under inhuman supervision and cruelty one day, these men will read the books leaders have burned, and their soul will drink from the spring of vitality. One day, we will all try to understand before we try to act. Marked on the calendar as today for every Anarchist, this day is a revolution, where the minds of men finally are consistent with their heart’s yearnings — when the lash and whip are no longer enough sustenance for the individual, when toil and monotony are no longer enough to keep the blood flowing, when obtaining material possessions can no longer deliver happiness…

This day is coming, and for some of us, it is already here. The historians of the bourgeoise elite will struggle to understand why we do what we do. The reasons are purely human, purely mammalian, purely animal. Beliefs are the guiding cause behind every action. Liberty. Community. Peace. Justice. Love. These are the causes of why we do what we do. The sincerity of the revolution of our heart must be confirmed by our actions.

The pen that writes the history of our liberation shall be guided by our reasons. If your life in contemporary Capitalism doesn’t satisfy you, then you already have a reason.

Express yourself.

Act. Organize. Protest. Shoplift. Unionize.

How To Transition Into Copywriting By Moonlighting - Even If You Already Have A Full-Time Job

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

There’s a lot of overtly self-serving marketing taking place in the “new copywriter’s space” of the Internet, and I don’t want to add to that.

So permit me to give you my very considered perspective on the question “Can I transition into copywriting by moonlighting?”

I’m happy to report that the answer to that question is “yes”…but with caveats.

Many people who want to transition into copywriting hold full time jobs and have the responsibility of families. That doesn’t leave much time for copywriting, and copywriting is time-intensive.

Although I frequently advise my coaching students to look for national and international clients, I’d advise a moonlighting copywriter to look for local clients.

It’s often easier to land a local client simply because you can meet with him. (This eventually becomes a liability, however, because meetings are unnecessary time-wasters, and the client will often tell you to “stop by and pick up the check.”)

Another question you’ll need to ask yourself if you want to moonlight is whether you can communicate with your client during working hours.

If you’re absolutely unable to return a call or respond to an email during regular working hours, it’s going to be really tough to create a relationship that works.

That said, most people have at least a lunch break where communication needs can be handled.

Another reason I suggest local clients for the moonlighter is that to work for non-local companies you need good marketing materials, and today it’s almost essential to have a Web site. By working locally you can get by with letterhead and business cards.

If you’re thinking about just “throwing a site together,” don’t do it! A hastily conceived site will look it, and will damage your “portfolio”… because it’s a reflection of the kind of work you’ll do for the client. Best to do it right the first time.

Many new copywriters fail to think of people they know who have businesses that could use a Web site or sales letter.

Friends and family are more likely to be flexible and understanding about time and career-transition issues. So be sure to consider opportunities that are even “closer to home” than local prospects if you want to moonlight.

I’ve also been asked if there are particular markets that have longer turn-around times so a copywriter would feel confident about never missing a deadline.

My Answer: Business-to-Consumer (B2C) copywriting has more order-generating work than Business-to-Business (B2B), and that usually requires longer copy.

Companies that need long copy to sell their product or service usually understand that it will take weeks or months to compete a large project.

But you still have to put the hours in. And it’s a lot harder to estimate your time on a large job than a small one.

What’s a small job?

There’s lots of jobs you can do in direct response copywriting that you can do in a day or two. For instance, in the Business-to-Business space, you’ll find a preponderance of lead-generating work.

Lead-generation work is much lighter work because all you have to do is get the prospect to raise her hand. In fact, there’s a rule of thumb to tell only enough to get interest…you don’t want to give so much information that the prospect can decide without the aid of a “next step” (usually contact by a salesperson).

You can get paid a tidy sum for a 2-page lead-gen sales letter (say $2,000) and knock it out in a day or two.

The most important thing to remember when you pick up moonlighting jobs is to estimate your time, and then double it.

Monday, May 28th, 2007

The medical, as low as the dictionary, definition of a nurse is the health care professionals engaged in the practice of nursing. Nurses can be male or female. How To Build Your Own House

Monday, May 28th, 2007

If you are looking for a new home, one of your best options may be to build your own home. Purchasing a home that is already built can be quite expensive and may be out of your price range, but building it yourself offers a cheaper route that will leave you even more satisfied with your home since you can design it yourself.

Hiring someone else to build your home can also be quite expensive, so why not take control of your new home and the price, and self build the home just the way you want it. Self building is becoming quickly popular in places like the UK, and people from all professions are beginning to build their homes this way.

Planning and Designing

One of the first tips that you will need to take if you are going to self build your home is to start planning and designing. It is important that you take the time now to get your planning done, because doing so will make the process much easier. Start thinking about where you want to live and what kind of a house you would like. Also you will want to find out the building regulations that are in place where you desire to build as well.

Locate Land

Once you have basic plans in place for your home, you will want to start looking for a great site to build your home on. When you are considering the land that you purchase, there is more to a great home site than a great view, although a wonderful view is an added bonus. You will also want to take into consideration whether or not the land already has permission to build. If it does not, it make awhile before you are able to build your home on this land. Be sure that you take the time to consider a variety of plots of land before you make your final decision.

Assessing the Land

Things that you need to consider when purchasing property for your home include how large the plot is, services like sewer, water, and electricity, trees on the property, and how accessible the property is to vehicles. Take things into consideration and you are sure to find a great plot of land for your new home. If the land has problems such as no water or the land is not level enough for a home and will consider a great deal of money to fix that, then you may want to consider another piece of property. Be sure to remember that you do not overspend on the land, so you have plenty of money budgeted out to actually build the home.

Once you have the planning done and a great piece of land, you are ready to get started on your dream home. Within a few months you will be able to enjoy the comfort of a home that you built yourself. Having a self built home can provide you with personal satisfaction and can save you a great deal of money as well.

Car Blogs as Means of News Dissemination

Monday, May 28th, 2007

The very active society we now live in demands of us to be informed at all times. We will find it in our best interest to be aware of the latest news in all fields, but especially in those which influence our life directly. Significant new information becomes relevant when it influences a lot of people. Staying informed may also be part of pursuing a hobby, or fulfilling an important part of your life. The variety of sources which report news includes newspapers, television programs or radio programs, websites and so on. The websites are becoming a more and more accessible source for news, as they do not impose a certain schedule, like the morning paper or the evening news do. A PC and an Internet connection it’s all it takes to stay informed. Websites offer information on an endless number of topics. Some types of websites, such as blogs, offer the possibility to share opinions with other users or participate in discussions. Car blogs are popular among many people, not just those passionate about cars. For those who make a daily habit out of finding out the latest automotive news, a car blog affiliation is a must. But a car blog is not meant to satisfy the needs of those wild on cars alone. Ordinary people seeking any type of information, suggestion or advice for their car can find a satisfactory answer on a car blog.

Car blogs often make comments on the automotive news already announced through other mainstream media. But the cases when a car blog brings new information to public light are more and more frequent. Automotive news dissemination through car blogs is important especially when those targeted are car enthusiasts. But those not so passionate about car could be interested in the automotive news presented on a car blog, as it may also include information of general public interest.

The automotive news that a user can find on a car blog includes news about the latest car models, alternative fuels, environmentally friendly cars and hybrids, tires, convertibles, used cars, auto shows, car loans, alarm systems for cars, car accessories, and the list could go on forever.

The type of information the reader is looking for, whether it’s the latest automotive news or just useful information on cars, depends on the type of the car blog. While some car blogs are technology-oriented, others are brand oriented. On the other hand, a car blog may focus on custom cars alone, or be concerned with specifics such as 4×4. But the overall idea is that most bloggers check out the latest automotive news on a car blog because this is where the information on cars reaches its highest level. An ordinary conversation on cars will by no means prove satisfactory to a car enthusiast as many people know too little about automobiles. Therefore, they turn to a car blog where automotive news are accurate and updated. While mainstream media may be under censorship to some extent, blogs will always send the messages directly to the large public, presenting the readers with credible news.

Legal Fees in Addition to Your Attorney Fees and Your Legal Bill

Monday, May 28th, 2007

When filing a lawsuit, in addition to your attorney fees, you may be required to pay some or all of these extra expenses or otherwise referred to as legal fees:

- Filing fees,

- Per page or flat fee for word processing, photocopying and fax,

- Secretarial time,

- Overtime,

- Telephone charges,

- Courier, postage, and overnight delivery charges,

- Reporter charges for recording testimony and providing a written script of the same,

- Court fees and other court costs,

- Lawyer travel expanses, including gasoline, mileage, parking fees, meals, airfare and lodging,

- Expert and consultant fees,

- Investigator fees,

- Jury fees and mileage fees (set by law) if you request a jury for your case. These expenses must be paid in advance,

- Service fees for people who locate witnesses and other parties involved in the case and deliver legal papers to them,

- Witness fees and mileage charges for people who testify at depositions and trials. These amounts are set by law. You also may need to pay travel expenses if a witness must be brought in from far away,

- Other fees related to your case.

Make sure that you’re not taken by surprise with any hidden costs or expenses. It would be wise to discuss them with your potential lawyer before you actually hire him or her. Also, you need to find out if you are going to be responsible for paying these costs directly as they arise or if you are going to have to reimburse your lawyer for these expenses that he or she may pay on your behalf. It would be in your best interest to ask for a written estimate of all anticipated additional costs. You can also determine a certain dollar amount and tell your lawyer that costs over that amount have to be approved by you in advance.

Your Legal Bill

Unless your case is under a contingency fee agreement, your lawyer would probably bill you monthly unless agreed upon otherwise between the two of you. As mentioned before, if you’re paying your lawyer hourly, you may want to establish a cap or a limit at which your lawyer needs to get your permission before spending more.

When you receive your legal bill, you need to take your time going over it. You do have the right to get itemized bills that would show you how your lawyer has spent his or her time on your case. The bill needs to show your lawyer’s fees and expenses with an appropriate explanation for each. For instance, if you’ve been charged 6 hours for a research time, your bill needs to spell out what exactly was being researched. If it doesn’t, you need to ask your lawyer for specifics. If something seems suspicious, don’t automatically accuse your attorney. Just give him or her a call and ask for an explanation. Even if it was a justified charge, this will let your lawyer know that you’re paying a very close attention, which is totally within your rights.

You can get on a fee payment schedule. This is a monthly payment plan which allows you to pay an expected sum every month on the balance of your bill. But, be careful with this. In general the attorney would charge interest on the remaining balance. And that’s more money out of your pocket. Many attorneys will arrange a fee payment schedule after they have received a retainer from the client.

And last but not least, lawyers are just humans as we all are. All humans make mistakes every now and then - lawyers too. Don’t be afraid to pull out your calculator and check the math on your bill. If you find that the numbers are not adding up, simply bring it to your lawyer’s attention. Anytime you think your lawyer’s bill contains an error or something that you don’t agree with, contact your lawyer immediately and try to resolve the discrepancy.

Not Being Able to Pay the Bill

If you cannot afford paying your lawyer’s bill, contact your lawyer immediately (don’t wait) to see if you can make any payment arrangements. You could ask your lawyer to postpone work temporarily until you can pay the bill. However, if you cannot reach an agreement, your lawyer may be entitled to stop working on your case. In some cases, your lawyer may acquire a lien on your house or property to secure their fee. So, it is recommended for you to come up with a plan on finding the funds necessary to pay your attorney.

Reducing Your Legal Costs

Time is money when it comes to legal fees. By answering your lawyer’s questions fully and honestly, you will save time and also help your lawyer do a better job. Regardless of how embarrassing or how uncomfortable your answer is, by not providing your lawyer all of the needed facts, he or she would need to spend more time figuring out those details, which will cost you more money. Remember that the ethics of the profession bind your lawyer to maintain in the strictest confidence almost anything you reveal during your private discussions. So, by providing your lawyer all of the needed information, you will save a lot of time, which on the other hand will reduce your legal costs.

Also, offer your time. Let your lawyer know that you are willing to help out, such as picking up or delivering documents, making phone calls, faxing documents and such. Instead of paying for an overpriced hourly rate for someone else to do it, by you doing some everyday general tasks, you can reduce your legal costs tremendously.

Work Motivation: Making or Breaking Your Workday

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Getting up on the wrong side of the bed can affect the way you feel and perform at work. Your negative persona can be portrayed to fellow employees. Being unsatisfied with the work you are doing, as well as being unhappy with your pay can impact your work as well. Because work motivation can fluctuate daily, several approaches can be utilized to help maintain a positive motivation. They are as follows:

Tone and gesture:

A positive vocal tone, along with calm mannerisms, is most important in the work environment. Without these things, everyone around you will be affected in some way by your bad or frustrated mood. Production will go down, along with employee moral. To keep a positive head on your shoulders, try to steer clear of irritable people. Tell yourself, “I have a job to do and I have to do it the best that I can.” If you see someone having a rough day, extend a smile or a nice gesture. Remember that your positive manner can help improve someone’s negative tone.

On-the-job expectations:

Bosses organize and distribute projects to employees; however, sometimes the boss does not clearly state the main objectives. This often causes confusion and irritability among the workforce. If you are not sure exactly what is expected of you, be certain to check in with your boss to discuss what needs to be done. This will not only clarify to you what you job is, but it will also show your boss that you are concerned and have a great deal of work motivation.

Continue to learn and improve skills:

Consistently improving your skills and knowledge is a sign of work motivation. Learning and improving skills for work can be achieved in many ways. Companies send employees to business seminars so that employees can improve their skills. Many seminars teach employees how to stay focused, how to deal with stress, how to improve self-esteem, or how to improve skills (such writing, computer skills, or drawing). Attending business seminars give you work motivation to apply what you learned while on the job. Also, if your company has an educational assistance program, take advantage of it. Most companies will pay for you to take college level courses, if they are directly related to your job. You can talk to your boss or your Human Resources Director about how to begin the program.

Make Time For Others:

Taking time out of your busy schedule to help a fellow employee with a project illustrates that you are a dedicated team player. This is also a recognizable form of work motivation. It is also beneficial to you, because often times when you help someone, they will one day return the favor.

Do not forget that work motivation starts with a positive attitude. You have to take responsibility for your actions in the workplace and show others that you are dedicated and hard working. Only then will you be a highly respected employee.

What is Self Mastery? - Part 1

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Self Mastery, alone, sounds like a selfish term but if you cannot help yourself, you will have limited ability to help others. Self mastery is the ability to make the most out of your physical, mental, and spiritual health. In other words, to be the best you can be.

As a result of your efforts, you will be able to help everyone around you. In order for you to change the world around you, for the better, you have to change yourself for the better, along the way.

You cannot sit on a mountain top waiting for perfection before you help your fellow man. The time to help is now, and we must look at ourselves as works in progress.
Appreciate yourself for who you are, what you are, and what you have accomplished so far.

Appreciate your friends, family, and associates for who they are. Accept them, as they are, without expecting perfection. This is a common mistake for parents to make with their children, but it also happens in a variety of relationships. So, let go of demands on others - especially unrealistic demands.

Where do we start learning the secrets of self mastery? If you accept things around you, without demand, you already have taken the first step. There are two important factors here.

1. Once you accept people, and situations, for what they are, you won’t waste time and energy with frustration. This causes inner frustration, emotional turmoil, worries, and depression.

2. Once you change yourself, through positive self mastery, the world around you will change for the better, without much effort on your part.

You will not be able to make all of the changes to mind, body, and spirit, at once, but they are connected.

The first large component is physical. Your body needs constant maintenance in a variety of methods: weight resistance, flexibility, and cardio-vascular strength, require you to cross train. So, if you have been on the couch too long, it is time to get off. This one physical change, of daily exercise, will help you in all aspects of life. You will feel better about yourself.

If you don’t have enough time for three types of exercise - practice at least one that will give you maximum benefits. Hatha Yoga, swimming, and martial arts are good recommendations, as each of them cross trains the body with fair variety.

In many Yoga classes, Sun Salutations are a series of postures - and the ultimate cross training exercise. Once you are familiar with them, you can practice at home. They require very little space and no equipment, although many Yoga practitioners do use a Yoga mat, or sticky mat, at home.

Paul Jerard, is a co-owner/director of Yoga teacher training at Aura Wellness Center. He has been a certified Master Yoga teacher since 1995. He is a master instructor of martial arts. He teaches Yoga, martial arts, and fitness to children, adults, and seniors. Recently he wrote: Is Running a Yoga Business Right for You? For Yoga students, who may be considering a new career as a Yoga teacher.

Boating Makes Your Life Worth Living

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Who doesn’t enjoy moving quietly over the blue and clear water? Watching the fishes jumping about in the water and feeling the fresh smell of sea. It can be both relaxing and exciting all at once. Many water sports require you to jump into the water. Boating however, enables you to come as close as possible to the water, without actually get wet (as long as it isn’t raining).

Whether you are a lonely fisher or a super social explorer, boating is always fun. You can bring with you your friends or family, and fish, swim or simply just cruise around on the water enjoying a great time together with others. Bring with you a picnic and go ashore somewhere you couldn’t have reached by car. Sit down in the beautiful nature and enjoy life.

Thrill seekers might find the situation described above a little boring. But wait, there is also much more to do while boating. Water is really the extreme sport element number one. Here is just a couple of thing you can do:

- Water skiing. See how fast you can go with a pair of skies strapped around your legs. Make a competition. You can make a points system for doing a series of tricks, or you can simply let a friend of yours decide who did the best trick combination. Water skiing is easy to start with, but also offers great challenges.

- Rafting. How crazy isn’t it to jump of a waterfall and stay in the air for a couple of seconds before touching the water again? Rafting is not too hard, but it requires skill to master. And remember; don’t jump of the biggest drops in the start, as it might be an unpleasant experience.

- Tube. Imagine water skiing without having to hold your balance. A tube is a rubber ring attached to a long robe fastened to the boat. All the participant has to do, is to hold tight to the ring. It might be a bit scary, since it can feel like you are about to lose your grip and fly out of it. But don’t worry; it isn’t that easy to fall of.

Keep in mind that water skiing requires a motor boat; normally with more than 50 horsepower. Nevertheless, someone tried to ski behind a boat with rowers, and unbelievable the skier actually made it up on his feet. But don’t attempt that at home. It was one of the greatest rowers in the UK.

If you want to use your boat on longer trips, it is highly recommended to have a boat with roof, as it might be a bit cold and uncomfortable to use a boat that only got a small windshield. Remember to dress well, as it often gets far colder out on the ocean when you are traveling with great speeds.

Go boating, and enjoy your life the real way!
